Theology Department Wish List
The Theology Department would like to have Chris Padgett visit Bishop High School on Monday March 29th. John Vasellina, Youth Ministry Director at St. Raphael's Church, has heard Chris speak at several youth conferences, most recently here at the Santa Barbara Youth Day and had wonderful things to say about Chris, especially commending the way he connects with teens through his stories, humor and music.
Chris would be speaking on the topic of purity, a topic that has not been brought to the students' attention via a guest speaker for several years. There is a music element to his presentation. He married his college girlfriend who was instrumental in turning his life around, converted to Catholicism, and created a family including eight children.
$1,500 must be secured by March 15th in order to schedule this program. If Bishop cannot make this commitment, these funds will be held for future speakers on this topic.
Following are a few comments made by people who have heard him speak.
"Chris Padgett is a devoted husband and
father, a talented musician, a very zealous convert, a serious book-addict (it
takes one to know one!), an all around great guy, and a real treasure to the
church"
Dr. Scott

"Young people like good music -- music with
feeling and creativity. Chris Padgett is a convert to the Catholic Church and
brings with him a great desire and ability to share the faith with young people
through his music and inspiring talks. Our parish recently had 500 teens flock
to sing and worship with Chris and none of them were disappointed. Teens are at
the crossroads and Chris's unique ministry helps them through the maze of modern
life as they strive to live out their faith in the real world."
