Science Wing Renovation
On the drawing board is Bishop High's $1.2 million renovation of the entire Science Wing, complete with the integration of solar technologies as part of a campus-wide greening effort. Bishop High also plans to launch its curriculum based STEM Academy for the 2010-2011 school year.
The Science Wing renovation addresses Bishop High's momentum to prepare students with 21st-century skills: problem solving, self-direction and the integration of technology requiring an unprecedented facility with computer applications.
It's an interactive world out there and data no longer rests on the blackboard or the printed page. Both of Bishop's science instructors earned doctoral level degrees. They optimize lecture instruction with the use of SMART Board technologies to lift the lid on in-classroom presentations. Maximizing the innovative use of technology jump starts student interest and optimizes learning style options.
With this renovation, students will perform in work groups with lap top computers. Probe wear interfacing will enable high precision experimental data to be collected rapidly so results can be readily analyzed and visualized instantly at the computer screen. Classrooms are being re-assessed to maximize both demonstration and experimentation with an eye on transition to college level sciences and the expectations of AP curriculum.
The Cardinal Standards of faith, service, thought, expression, self-reliance and action remain cornerstones of a Bishop High education. Students exercise critical thinking skills as they build upon these values during learning exercises.
We encourage you to inquire about our plans and join our group of Bishop High benefactors to help kick-off our $1.2 million Science Wing renovation. We need your help so these innovative and technological advantages can be brought into our classrooms.
Thank you for your much needed support.
