Adopt-A-Student

Please help us to preserve the affordability of a Bishop education one student at a time...

Bishop High is a small school that does big things; the Adopt-A-Student Program is the Bishop High way to see that qualified students with demonstrated need can still benefit from all we have to offer. With this year's challenging economy we have listened to parents and their financial concerns are significant. Mid to low income families, many working two jobs or more to provide partial tuition payments have been hit hard. Tuition assistance is determined by an independent, nation-wide tuition assistance firm and is available to all students regardless of faith, race or cultural background. Parents are concerned they are without the resources they had only months earlier. They worry that their child will not able to complete the partnership of the four-year college-prep commitment they have begun.

- 57% of our student body receives some level of need-based tuition assistance.

- 158 students receive tuition assistance at the 50% and above level as determined by a nation-wide tuition assessment firm.

- 2009-2010 tuition is $12,800. Actual tuition cost to the school is $13,800.

- Since 2002, 100% of our graduating seniors have been accepted to college.

Our goal this year is to raise $860,000 for the Adopt-A-Student Program, to be accountable to our benefactors and to highlight the student growth their generosity has enabled by:

- Incorporating critical thinking skills that utilize curricular knowledge combined with the Cardinal Standards for complex problem solving,

- Meeting the challenge of achieving their God-given potential in a multi-cultural society through a rigorous college prep program and a diverse slate of sports and extra curricular activities,

- Participating fully in an education that engages parents and students in a program of giving back to their community, (2008-09 volunteer hours exceed 13,000), while honoring the role of parents as the primary educators of their children.

...because it's all about community.
