2009-2010 Annual Giving

When we look into these faces, we say to ourselves, “Can it get any better than this?” Every year we hear from parents and friends and they tell us much the same thing.  They look into faces like these that smile with confidence and competence, with their best friends surrounding them and the joy is contagious.  While this result is for real, it is not a given.  We know many of our students did not start their lives or their years at Bishop Garcia Diego High School with this sense of security.  That means our students are admitted on the basis of skills and potential and we work with them on the rest.  Every person pictured has worked with us to make sure that the opportunity for “better” is there.  We want to continue to see the Sam’s and the Katie’s going out to make a better world.  We want you to feel good about joining us in this endeavor.

This year marks our 50th anniversary as Bishop builds on the foundation of Santa Barbara Catholic High. In our 2008-2009 annual report we spoke about Goals, Grace and Green, our initiative to renovate our 50 year old Science Wing and launch our STEM Academy (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). We need you to partner with us to make these initiatives a reality, so we can continue to graduate students prepared for college with 21st century skills and a values- rich conscience. Together we can insure that our students are equipped to create and articulate clear goals, develop solutions enabling them to minister to humanity and steward our environment. We are asking you to contribute to this Annual Appeal:

•    Because more than half our students require some level of financial assistance. Your donation to the Adopt-A-Student fund allows Bishop High to graduate students prepared to carry on their commitment to the Cardinal Standards.

•    So that Bishop High can continue to educate students like James, Class of 2002, who graduated from UCLA in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics in 2006, cum laude, did research in an HIV lab, and community service outreach (i.e. interpreting at the med center for Spanish speaking patients) before going to Harvard.

Please visit us on our website at www.bishopdiego.org and learn more about what Bishop High is envisioning for its next 50 years.  Learn more about how a small school, with good people, can do such big things. You can also find us on facebook as we provide our tech savvy grads, parents and friends, with yet another way to stay in touch.

We call on you today to help us do what we do best, graduate students who are ready for college and ready for life. Help us keep that look of promise on all our students’ and capable faces.  On behalf of the students who attend Bishop High and make the daily commitment to achieve their God-given potential, thank you! May God bless you and those you love.

Shalom,                                                                  Sincerely,
